A question regularly asked around church these days.   We, concerned leaders and members of CBC have created this website to answer this question.

The Board of Directors at CBC has decided to transition our church towards a new model that better aligns with their future vision.  

The Board of Directors has terminated Craig Whittaker without cause on January 21.  Prior to his termination the Board put Craig on a two week leave without explanation. Craig has faithfully poured himself into our church for 50 years, doing his life's work putting people in touch with God. 

Bruce Jordan, Chairman of the CBC Board sent an email via Matt Whitlock to the Staff and Spiritual Leaders on January 8th.  

This email is the first time many of the Pastors, Staff, and Spiritual Leaders were notified about these drastic changes to our church, after the board had already voted in November to approve the changes.  

The Staff that has resigned includes people who have served CBC for decades.  They have left due to the heartbreaking way that the Board has terminated Craig and they are concerned about the Board's actions and the future of our church.

This includes:

• Marc Seal – Lead Guitarist at CBC for 31 years
• Lori Smith – Payroll and Human Resources Administrator at CBC for 20 years
• Jennifer Chapman – Accounting Director and Lead Pastor Assistant at CBC for 14 years

Attention Board and Leadership Teams,

There are a lot of questions going around these days and no answers.

Some of the questions I have and have heard are:

1.  Why change to a new model, new direction, and new structure?  
2. Who and where did the catalyst for change come from?
3. How was the Board authorized to make such changes and has the Board been in compliance with Church bylaws and state regulations?
4. What is the job description for Board members, spiritual leaders, and senior and lead pastors? What changes have been recently made?
5. Is Craig’s employment being terminated or did he retire?
6. Did Craig want to retire? And if so, why didn’t the Board announce Craig’s retirement to the church and why isn’t there a heartfelt celebration of the 40+ years that he and his wife Jeanne have poured into our community? 
7. Who is this new consultant you plan to bring in, what is their role, and how much will that cost the church? 
8. We loved our church what was wrong with it?

I request that the Board set up a Town Hall Meeting to answer questions for our Capo community and provide some transparency on the future of our church.
