Welcome to CBC Truth, a platform dedicated to transparency and open dialogue concerning recent developments at Capo Beach Church.
Over 18 Months ago Matt Whitlock asked Craig Whittaker when Craig was planning to retire. Matt informed Craig that Matt felt Matt was the face of the church and needed to take over Craig’s responsibilities.
The Board has stated they needed to keep Matt at all costs. Matt had already made demands to the Board to become the leader of CBC claiming that if not, he would leave and either start his own church, for which he had already secured backing, or join a new church. In January, Pastor Craig Whittaker was terminated without cause by the CBC Board of Directors.
In February the Board told the congregation that they were going in a new direction, sparking concerns among church members. This website serves as a resource for those seeking information and updates on this matter.
Since launching this website we have learned of and shared many concerning actions by Matt Whitlock and the rest of the Board. These updates can be found in the updates section. www.cbctruth.org/updates
The updates include:
In less than a month 450 CBC congregants signed a petition for the Board to hold a Town Hall Meeting. The Board refused to allow the Town Hall to be held at CBC. On March 23rd a Town Hall Meeting was held offsite. 350-450 people attended and questions were answered. Not a single member of the 10 person Board attended.
On April 4th CBC Truth sent the Board a "Motion of No Confidence in the Board" which has now been signed by 420 people. The Board has received the letter but has not responded choosing instead to pick apart the list. On April 15th a second request was sent to the Board.
Here, you'll find the latest updates, including details about the board's decisions, Matt's actions, staff resignations, and ongoing efforts to engage with church leadership. We encourage you to explore the updates section for comprehensive information and to participate in discussions aimed at fostering transparency and understanding.
If you have questions or wish to share your thoughts, we can be reached at CBCTruth2025@gmail.com.
